Workshops - Chip out of Every Bock (3 hour workshop)

Supply list
(Handout fee  $10, includes pattern. This will be collected by the teacher by the end of class)
  • Rotary cutter
  • Medium rotary mat
  • Quilter's ruler  6"x24 or 6"x12   (your choice, we will be cutting strips with this ruler), also  6” x 6” ruler
  • Straight pins with heads
  • Marking pencil, light color and silver
  • Light Gray thread for sewing machine
  • Basic sewing supplies you always like to work with (thread clips, seam ripper, etc.)
Fabric - cubes
You will need to pick different 6 colors:  you will need a non-busy light, medium, dark of each color: ¼ yard of each value.
Example, if you select blue as one of your colors, you will need a light blue, medium blue and dark blue.
Be sure fabric is non-busy, such as a tone on tone fabric, like Stonehenge or a gradated fabric such as Karen’s Serendipity fabrics. (Serendipity fabrics will be available for purchase in class)
Fabric – background and sashing:  1/4 yard black or neural non –busy fabric
If you wish to make a larger quilt, purchase ½ yard or 1 yard of this background fabric. Examples of good neutral colors: black, deep navy blue, brown, tan, ivory, white
Fabric – Border – this can be purchased after class.

 Pre-class cutting:   You are making 6 cubes.

(6) Black (or background color of your choice)  5" square

From each color, you will need the following:

(1) light 5” square
(4) 2½ light squares
(2) light 3” squares
(3) 4½” medium squares
(4) 2½” medium color squares
(1) 5” dark color square
(4) 2½” dark color squares
(2) dark 3” squares
