Does the chip go in or does it go out? A fun quilt of illusion, so simple to make, once you know how. A throw that can grow to any size you wish! Let Karen show you how easy it is to create an intriguing quilt of illusion.
Karen will send a fabric selection video, supply list and pre-cutting video before class. In class, we will look at value tips, fabric placement, cutting and sewing tips, layout options, border options and start sewing. Students will probably get 2 or 3 blocks done in class.
Pattern is required for class.
Pattern can be downloaded from Karen’s Etsy store for last-minute sign-ups.
Optional fabric kit is available as well as a print pattern. If ordering the fabric kit or print pattern, please allow 10-14 days to ensure delivery.
SUPPLY LIST (virtual class)
Handout fee $10 (pattern and handouts)
If taking the class from your guild, you will need to order your pattern before class.
Link to download Karen's Chip Out of Every Block pattern from her Etsy store is here.
Link to order a printed copy of Karen's Chip Out of Every Block pattern is here.
You can purchase a kit with fabric and printed pattern for the class. Details here:
Chip Out of Every Block kit (cube fabric and pattern)
(I like the Omnigrid square ruler that has a 45 degree line down the middle of the ruler, as shown here.)
Fabric - Cubes
You will need to pick different 6 colors: you will need a non-busy light, medium, dark of each color: ¼ yard of each value.
Example, if you select blue as one of your colors, you will need a light blue, medium blue and dark blue. Be sure fabric is non-busy, such as a tone on tone fabric, like Stonehenge or a gradated fabric such as Karen’s Serendipity and Colorfall fabrics.
If ordering Karen's gradated fabric for your cubes, each yard of gradated fabric will do 2 or 3 blocks, perhaps more. Gradated fabric can be ordered from Karen's webstore here.
Be sure to watch Karen's video about fabric selection before selecting your fabrics. The link for viewing the fabric selection video is located here.
Fabric – background and sashing: 1/4 yard black or neutral non –busy fabric
If you wish to make a larger quilt, purchase ½ yard or 1 yard of this background fabric. Examples of good neutral colors: black, deep navy blue, brown, tan, ivory, white
Fabric – Border – this can be purchased after class.
Pre-class cutting - Karen will send a pre-cutting chart to your program chair about 1 to 2 weeks before our class.
