This is a beautiful quilt with the illusion of depth. Don’t let it scare you, the piecing is easy, created from just triangles! Believe it or not, this stunning quilt is created with just one block, done in different colors. Quilt is 48” x 48”. Different layouts will be discussed in class.
Karen will send a fabric selection video, supply list and pre-cutting video before class.
In class, we will look at value tips, fabric placement, cutting and sewing tips, layout options, border options and start sewing. Students will get quite a few blocks done in class.
Pattern is required for class.
Pattern can be downloaded from Karen’s Etsy store for last-minute sign-ups.
SUPPLY LIST (virtual class)
Handout fee $10 (pattern and handouts)
If taking the class from your guild, you will need to order your pattern before class. You can order a hard-copy from Karen or download a copy from Karen’s Etsy store.
Link to download Karen's Jewel Box pattern from her Etsy store is here.
Link to order a printed copy of Karen's Jewel Box pattern is here.
(I like the Omnigrid square ruler that has a 45° line down the middle of the ruler, as shown here.)
Fabric Selection
Pick 4 colors, Karen used blue, blue/green, purple and green. Once you have your 4 colors, you will need a light, medium and dark of each color. See below for details about yardages.
Select non-busy fabrics for the best results. Examples would be tone on tone basics or tone on tone batiks. Be sure fabric is non-busy, such as a tone on tone fabric or a gradated fabric such as Karen’s Serendipity, Batik Cascade and Colorfall fabrics.
Gradated fabric can be ordered from Karen’s webstore here
Be sure to watch Karen’s video about fabric selection before selecting your fabrics. Video is located here.

Gradated fabric
If purchasing Karen’s Serendipity, Colorfall or Batik Cascade fabrics, you will need 1 yard of Green, 1 yard of Teal, 1 yard of Blue and 2 yards of Purple.
If purchasing Stonehenge Ombre from Karen's store, you may need 2 yards of Green, Teal and Blue and 3 yards of Purple. You need the extra fabric because Stonehenge Ombre has more than 3 values on the gradation. There will be parts of the yardage you do not use. (It could become a binding, if you wish)
If ordering the fabric or print pattern, please allow 10-14 days to ensure delivery before class.
Pre-class cutting – Karen will send a pre-cutting chart about two weeks before your class.
